Lotto bonanza set for Spain

THE world’s richest lottery is set to splash out €1.8 billion in winnings in Spain today with the annual celebration of El Gordo, or the Fat One.

In a Christmas tradition that dates back to 1812, schoolchildren will pick out the numbers.

The lottery is billed as the world’s richest for the total sum of prize money although others have bigger individual top prizes.
