Parents sue Anna over property
The 22-year-old star is being sued by mother Alla and father Sergei who want to legally “partition” the $5 million Miami Beach mansion.
According to legal papers, Kournikova and her parents each have “a one-third interest in the property”.
The case, listed as Kournikova v Kournikova, will go before a Miami judge.
Lawyers Howard Rudolph and David Leacock, for the parents, will ask the judge to grant a ruling which legally splits the property between the three.
The tennis player and her parents bought the seven-bedroom home on Miami Beach’s Sunset Island in 2000.
Mr Rudolph claimed Anna Kournikova was “taking the position that this is her house”.
But her parents insisted the property was shared, and wanted to guarantee the future profits from any sale.
Doubts have been raised recently about Kournikova’s future on the tennis court, amid reports of a back injury which could end her career.
