DESTINY’S Child and Mariah Carey solidified their status as bankable international acts, winning the most honours at the 2005 World Music Awards, (WMAs) which select winners based on worldwide record sales.

Destiny’s Child won for best-selling pop group, R&B group and best-selling female group of all time at Wednesday night’s ceremony at Hollywood’s Kodak Theatre.

Carey, who staged a comeback this year with The Emancipation of Mimi, nabbed best-selling R&B artist, pop female artist and female entertainer of the year awards.

The Game and Gwen Stefani took honours for the best-selling new male and female artists.

Usher won male entertainer of the year and 50 Cent was the best-selling pop male artist. Eminem won best-selling pop-rock artist and hip-hop artist.

The Killers were the best-selling new group.

U2 took the honours for best-selling rock artist.
