Prison riot in Solomon Islands

POLICE regained control of the Solomon Islands’ main prison yesterday after more than 100 inmates rioted.

Inmates broke out of their cells at Rove Prison and commandeered parts of it, throwing rocks at police.

Police in the capital Honiara arrested 176 prisoners after the riot, the statement said.
