Poet’s pub

A HISTORIC pub which is said to have inspired the works of poet Dylan Thomas is to go up for auction next month.

Poet’s pub

Landlord of 34 years Tommy Watts told how pub locals provided the inspiration for Under Milk Wood, one of the Welsh writer’s most famous works.

Mr Watts, aged 73, told how the writer, who died in 1953, would sit in the corner of the pub in the 1940s and early 1950s, with a notebook and take down interesting comments. He said: “He was always in the corner. He would take out a little pad and would write a comment.”
