Women ‘suffer worse hangovers’

WHEN it comes to recovering from the excesses of the night before, women really are the fairer sex, researchers in America have found.

Scientists compared hundreds of men and women, finding that not only did the women get drunk faster, they also suffered worse hangovers.

"This finding makes biological sense, because women tend to weigh less and have lower percentages of total body water than men do, so they should achieve higher degrees of intoxication and, presumably, more hangover per unit of alcohol," said Wendy Slutske of the University of Missouri-Columbia.
