Killer floods in China

TORRENTIAL summer rains have killed 384 people in central and southern China, while more than 100,000 have fled their homes to avoid rising rivers.

In the latest reported deaths, state media said flooding and landslides killed eight people in the mountainous southern region of Guangxi and two more in Yunnan province in the south-west.

The landslides in Yingjiang County in Yunnan also left 53 people missing.
