Plane fire in Sudan

A SUDANESE cargo plane caught fire and swerved off the runway as it tried to take off on Saturday from the southern city of Wau, slightly injuring three crew members and a boy in a nearby field.

Engines aboard the Soviet-built Antonov caught fire during takeoff, and the plane veered from the runway, the Sudanese Civil Aviation Administration said.

It said the five-member crew managed to get out of the plane, but that three of them were slightly hurt.
