Bush niece is jailed for 10 days

THE niece of US president George W Bush was led away in handcuffs yesterday after a judge sentenced her to 10 days in jail for violating the terms of her drug treatment programme.

Noelle Bush, 25, daughter of Florida Governor Jeb Bush, kissed her aunt, Dorothy, Koch before a sheriff’s deputy grabbed her hands behind her back and cuffed them.

Before she was sentenced, Ms Bush apologised to Circuit Judge Reginald Whitehead. “I sincerely apologise for what happened and promise to do well at the Centre for Drug-Free Living,” Ms Bush said, referring to the treatment centre where she has been staying. Judge Whitehead told Ms Bush he was sending her to jail because he was aware of allegations that she was found with crack cocaine in her shoe while at the treatment centre.
