IRAN’S hard-line president yesterday criticised nations that have economic ties with Tehran but oppose its nuclear programme, an apparent reference to pressure from European countries.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s comments, made in Iran’s parliament, came before lawmakers began a debate on his nominees to fill his first cabinet.

They include avid proponents of broadening Iran’s nuclear programme - a step bound to ensure continued friction with the US. Parliament is dominated by Mr Ahmadinejad’s supporters and is expected to approve his candidates.
