Boy escapes Florida shark attack

AN eight-year-old boy escaped with bites on his hands and arms when he was attacked by a shark while swimming in Florida with his father.

The boy, who was not named, was said to be in good condition in a Daytona Beach hospital.

He was swimming in four feet of water with his father yesterday when the shark swam between them shortly before the attack, said police Sergeant Mike Fowler.

The boy’s left hand and part of his left arm were inside the shark’s mouth, and he suffered cuts on both hands, Fowler said.
