Chinese launch porn crackdown

CHINA has ordered severe punishments for phone sex operators as part of a sweeping crackdown on electronic pornography. Local governments have been ordered to take action by October 1, China’s national day, the Xinhua news agency reports.

Police have closed about 700 websites and arrested 329 suspects since launching the anti-porn campaign in mid-July.
