Crisis can be resolved, says Cowen

FOREIGN affairs minister Brian Cowen said yesterday that the Iraqi crisis can still be resolved peacefully though the United Nations.

However, Mr Cowen said it was necessary for Iraq to disarm proactively.

“The Iraqi regime needs to know that the international community’s resolve remains very firm and robust and that the resolution that was passed does envisage serious consequences if compliance does not come,” he said.
