Kashmir protest at alleged rape

HUNDREDS of villagers in India’s portion of Kashmir demonstrated today to protest the alleged rape of a woman by a soldier during a search operation.

Protesters shouting slogans waved their fists as they marched through Sheikhpora village, about 40 miles south of Srinagar, the summer capital of India’s Jammu-Kashmir state.

The villagers alleged the soldier raped a 50-year-old woman during a search for militants in the remote village.
