Chechnyan President bombed

A ROADSIDE bomb tore through the motorcade of the acting president of warring Chechnya, killing one person, just two months after Chechnya’s previous leader was killed by a bomb.

Sergei Abramov, who was appointed to lead the Kremlin-backed Chechen government after the May 9 assassination of Akhmad Kadyrov, was not injured.

One of Abramov’s guards, who was in a car following the president’s, was killed and three others were wounded, Chechen Prosecutor Vladimir Kravchenko said.
