Conan Doyle papers sold

LONG-LOST papers which give a compelling insight into the private life of Sherlock Holmes’s creator Sir Arthur Conan Doyle were sold at auction yesterday for just under £1 million (€1.4m).

The 3,000 personal letters, notes and hand-written manuscripts, which had been missing for 40 years, had been expected to fetch around £2m (€3m) at the central London sale.
