Schoolgirl offered abortion after 10 minutes of advice

A 15-YEAR-OLD pregnant schoolgirl revealed yesterday how she was offered an abortion without parental consent after 10 minutes of counselling.

Michelle Down, from Herne Bay, Kent, told GMTV she was advised that she could choose to have the termination without her parents ever finding out about it. The woman who gave the advice was only aged 21. Just two days before she was due to have the operation, the teenager told her family about her pregnancy and eventually decided to keep the baby.

Describing her initial visit to the abortion clinic with her boyfriend, Michelle said: “We went to the clinic and we went to the counsellor for 10 minutes.
