Two men were arrested within hours of the suspected abduction in Haringey, North London but the girl, aged about 10, has still not been found.

Police, who are questioning the two suspects, still have no idea of the girl’s identity and have alerted local schools to report any missing pupils.

She was seen struggling as she was grabbed in White Hart Lane, Haringey at 8.50am by a white man in his 50s who was on foot.

The girl had her hair in pigtails or plaits and was wearing a purple coat, black shoes, white tights and a dark skirt.

Around 40 minutes after she was grabbed a man in his 50s was arrested in Tottenham High Road on suspicion of abducting her and he is being questioned at a North London police station.

At 12.15pm another man, also believed to be in his 50s, was arrested at an address in Tottenham, North London on suspicion of abduction.

He is also being questioned at a North London police station.

Chief Superintendent Stephen Bloomfield said: “We do not know where this girl is and we urgently need to trace her to ensure she is safe and well.”
