Pacific coast storm weakens

HURRICANE Frank weakened off of Mexico’s Pacific coast yesterday and continued heading away from land.

The storm, with sustained winds of about 74mph, was located roughly 400 miles west of the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula.

Frank was moving north west at about 9mph. Forecasters said the storm had apparently peaked and was expected to weaken to tropical storm status as it moved over cooler waters.
