THE leader of Luton council yesterday dismissed the English town’s new title of “crappiest” in the country as “a load of nonsense.”

The Bedfordshire town known for its airport, Vauxhall cars and some of the ugliest architecture in the land has been voted top in the latest list of most awful places in Britain.

Cllr David Franks, Luton-born and bred, and leader of the Liberal Democrat Group, retorted “this is hardly a scientific study.”
