THE judge hearing The Da Vinci Code “copying” case challenged its author yesterday over when he read the book whose authors are claiming he lifted their ideas.

Best-selling writer Dan Brown insisted in the witness box at the High Court in London that he had not read The Holy Blood and The Holy Grail until late in the production of his blockbuster novel.

Mr Justice Peter Smith referred him to one of the books he agreed he had read - The Templar Revelations - as part of his research.
