Bush declares war over as US soldiers come under attack

US President George W Bush declared an end to the war in Iraq last night.

In a speech delivered aboard a US aircraft carrier heading home from the Gulf, Mr Bush announced an end to combat, despite residents in Fallujah vowing to further avenge the deaths of 16 of their own gunned down by soldiers this week.

Earlier yesterday, attackers lobbed two grenades into a US Army compound injuring seven soldiers.
