Prison fears over Colombia Three

THREE Irishmen detained in Colombia have been without visits from their legal team for over a week after they were secretly moved to a high-risk prison where their lawyers say they would be in fear for their own safety.

Prison fears over Colombia Three

Supporters of the so-called Colombia Three, Niall Connolly, 36, James Monaghan, 56 and Martin McCauley, 40, have applied to the men's trial judge to have them returned to La Modelo Prison in the capital, Bogota, where they have been kept on-and-off for the past 16 months.

Caitriona Ruane of the Bring Them Home campaign, said if the judge did not order the men's return, the application would be taken to the Colombian supreme court where they would argue further breaches of their right to a fair trial.
