Diana Ross arrested for drunk driving

Ross, who rose to fame as a member of The Supremes, had a blood-alcohol of 0.20 more than twice the legal limit when the vehicle she was driving was stopped at 12.30am in Tucson, said Sgt Judy Altieri, a police spokeswoman.

Ross, 58, was ticketed for three misdemeanours, including driving under the influence, driving with a blood-alcohol content over 0.08 and driving with a blood-alcohol level of more than 0.15, known as extreme DUI. A January 13 initial court appearance has been tentatively scheduled. Police said that they pulled over the vehicle after a report that the car had been swerving and that Ross was co-operative during the incident. She was released and taken to where she was staying at the time, authorities said. Neither Ross nor her spokesman could be reached for comment yesterday. In May of this year, she checked into a drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre in Malibu, California, before the start of a summer tour.
