POLAND was bluntly told it can either agree to the terms of EU membership today, or wait another five years before its entry will be considered again.

Negotiations on the final package for the ten candidate countries look like they could go right to the wire as the leaders of the 15 EU countries prepare to offer them membership.

The Danish Prime Minister, Anders Fogh Rasmussen, who is chairing the summit issued the warning at the start of the two-day summit in Copenhagen yesterday.
