Soham girls’ clothes found in bin
The find came during a police search of a storage building on August 16 last year after keys to it were found in the bedroom of the girls’ alleged killer Ian Huntley.
Plainclothes detectives had gone to the college caretaker’s home and told him they were increasingly suspicious of him and wanted to search his house and car, the court was told.
Huntley and his then girlfriend Maxine Carr were told they would be put up in a hotel if the search went on into the night, but the pair were not arrested until the following day.
The clothes were found by search specialist PC Timothy Wade, whose statement was read to the jury .
The jury had already been told the 10-year-old girls were wearing identical red Manchester United tops with “Beckham” and the number “7” on the back when they disappeared on Sunday August 4.
