Uma vs Yoda as sirens take on sci-fi
In their 11th annual Hollywood issue, the style mag has gathered together 10 of the world's most esteemed and, not to put too fine a point on it, pulchritudinous actresses to grace the cover.
They're all there: established talents Uma Thurman, Cate Blanchett, Kate Winslet, Scarlet Johansson and Claire Danes, as well as up and coming actresses such as Ziyi Zhanga.
With a mere 23 Oscar and Bafta nominations between them, the top ten is not short on acting class, while Blanchett for her role as screen goddess Katharine Hepburn in Martin Scorcese's The Aviator and Kate Winslet in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, are among those who have picked up nominations for this year's Oscar ceremony.
Also starring in the lavish production that is the latest Vanity Fair cover is Rosario Dawson, who starred in swords and sandals epic Alexander, Kerry Washington, acclaimed for her role in the Ray Charles biopic Ray, and Kate Bosworth, who starred with Kevin Spacey in the Bobby Darin story, Beyond the Sea.
Finally, there is the person who, in the opinion of some British inkies, shouldn't be gracing the cover at all given her modest cinematic output boho style icon Sienna Miller.
The English actress starred opposite her beau Jude Law in transatlantic remake and all-round flop Alfie prompting some British papers to pose the question: "What's it all about?"
Anyone looking to read all about the lives and careers of the assembled stars will have to search for the American issue of the magazine however, as the regular February version features another bunch of people worth every bit as much money, although not quite so easy on the eye the cast and director of the upcoming Star Wars film, Revenge of the Sith.
Uma vs Yoda; Darth vs Cate, George Lucas vs Scarlet there's no competition really.
