Ship stopped by Greenpeace

A GREENPEACE activist has stopped a ship full of genetically modified soya beans docking in the Brazilian port of Paranagua.

The Global Wind arrived on Saturday from Argentina loaded with 30,000 tons of the beans. It was to pick up 10,000 tons of non-modified beans before sailing to Turkey.

The activist tied himself to the anchor a few miles away from the port. “Our idea is to prevent Brazilian non-GMO soya beans from being contaminated with GMO beans,” Mariana Paoli of Greenpeace said.
