Locals campaign for immigrant mother

A MOTHER of two threatened with deportation last night appealed to the Justice Minister Michael McDowell to show compassion and halt plans to send the family back to the country where her husband and son were burned to death in politically motivated attacks.

A campaign to stop the deportation of Niteta Appiakorang and her two daughters has been launched in the family’s adopted home of Tralee.

But they rapidly are running out of time and may be sent back to South Africa today.
