IRELAND is in line for its most significant injection of foreign direct investment in almost 15 years with the possibility of a move here by global giant General Electric.

Reports yesterday said the Taoiseach and Tánaiste are backing a push by the IDA to persuade the US firm to locate its European research centre in Dublin.

It’s believed that Ireland would benefit from a significant portion of the group’s annual spend on research projects, currently around $2 billion €1.8 billion).
