Schiffer ready to be model mother

SUPERMODEL Claudia Schiffer last night OK spoke of her delight at giving birth to a baby boy as she left hospital with her newborn son.

Ms Schiffer and film producer husband Matthew Vaughn posed for pictures outside the exclusive Portland Hospital, in Central London, last night.

Asked how she was feeling, the 32-year-old model replied: “Great, thank you.”

Ms Schiffer gave birth to Caspar last Thursday by Caesarean section.

The baby weighed 7lb. Mr Vaughn told reporters: “Caspar is very healthy.”

“Meeting Matthew and giving birth to Caspar have been the two most amazing moments of my life,” said Ms Schiffer. “I have never been happier.

"Caspar is absolutely beautiful and amazing. I love him to bits.

"I would like to thank the hospital and staff, who have been fantastic, and most of all I would like to thank my husband Matthew, who held my hand throughout the birth.

"He has been by my side for the past five days. I’m looking forward to family life.”

Meanwhile, Ms Schiffer is expected to be a witness at the trial of an Italian kitchen porter accused of harassing her at her country mansion, a court heard yesterday.

The indication that she would give evidence was made when Agostino Pomata, 33, appeared before magistrates in Sudbury, Suffolk.

Mr Pomata denies harassing the German model at her home, Coldham Hall, Stanningsfield, near Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, on various occasions between September 23 and November 12 last year.

Mr Pomata, who worked at a restaurant in Bury St Edmunds, listened through an interpreter as the date of his trial was set for March 27 and 28.

He was released on bail by magistrates on condition he reports to a police station three times a week, does not try to contact the model and does not go within five miles of Stanningsfield.

Magistrates had detained him under the Mental Health Act at a previous hearing at the court in January.

Ms Schiffer and Mr Vaughn held their wedding reception at the country mansion in May last year after they were married at a nearby church.
