SOHAM killer Ian Huntley was identified in a police intelligence report as a “serial sex attacker” who would strike again, three years before he murdered Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman, it was revealed yesterday.

But the report was erased by Humberside Police 17 months before Huntley was given the all clear to work as a school caretaker in Soham, Cambridgeshire, where he would later murder the girls.

The deletion of the memo was one of a series of blunders outlined at an inquiry, chaired by Sir Michael Bichard, into failings in vetting procedures which allowed Huntley to get his job at Soham Village College.
