British favour privacy law despite Becks claim frenzy
The Guardian/ICM poll conducted in the aftermath of allegations about Beckham’s private life found a significant number of people favoured a privacy law which would have prevented their publication.
Some 69% of respondents said there should be legal protection from media intrusion for those in public life while just 11% believed there was a “legitimate public interest” in newspapers publishing claims about the England captain’s private life.
