Ahern fires latest salvo in EU row with Prodi

TAOISEACH Bertie Ahern and EU Commission president Romano Prodi remain at loggerheads over the future of the EU.

Mr Ahern said yesterday it was not helpful for people to be "running off" on other agendas instead of concentrating on the difficult and many aspects of European enlargement.

"Romano Prodi has never stopped talking about a two-tier Europe for many years and I've never stopped reminding him that I don't think it's a good idea so I'm not going to stop now either," Mr Ahern said.
