Russian Bolshevik party ordered to disband

A RUSSIAN court yesterday ordered disbandment of the National Bolshevik Party, a radical group whose small number of supporters have attracted wide attention with demonstrations and pranks.

Party leader Eduard Limonov, an ultra-nationalist writer who served more than two years in prison on charges of illegal weapons possession, said the ruling was aimed at silencing a group that was vocally opposing President Vladimir Putin and his government.

The party has conducted a number of disorderly acts, including throwing eggs at a meeting of the main pro-Kremlin party.
