Babysitter charged with the murder of toddler
The body of two-year-old Alfredo Montez, wrapped in a bedspread decorated with 101 Dalmatians, was spotted yesterday by a motorist along a Florida motorway. Police say he was killed on July 1.
The babysitter, Richard Chouquer, 23, was also charged with aggravated child abuse. His live-in girlfriend, Amandy Lawrence, 22, was charged as an accessory after the fact to murder.
Both were in custody in Hurricane, Utah, where they were arrested at a relative’s house.
Tampa police Captain WJ Martin said Chouquer hit the boy “with excessive force at least five times in the face” after the boy soiled his pants.
Chouquer and his girlfriend allegedly put the body in the trunk of their car and dumped it near the motorway.
Alfredo’s mother left the boy and his four-year-old sister, Rheyna, in the couple’s care at their mobile home on June 28, while she went looking for work, Martin said.
Jeanna Swallows, Alfredo’the mother of the murdered boys mother, was jailed earlier this week for violating probation by bouncing cheques.
