ROYAL butler Paul Burrell was sensationally cleared of stealing hundreds of Princess Diana’s belongings yesterday after a dramatic intervention by the Queen.

The case was dropped after the prosecution was told that, following Diana's death, Mr Burrell informed the Queen he had taken some of the princess's papers for safekeeping.

Mr Burrell, described by Diana as her “rock”, broke down sobbing as his two-year nightmare came to an end.
