Royal garden party guests scoff the lot

GUESTS at royal garden parties scoff an average of 14 cakes, sandwiches and ice creams each, it emerged yesterday.

More than 8,000 people attend each of the summer gatherings on the neatly cut lawns of Buckingham Palace Rather than nibbling on one or two treats, they consume the food on display in vast quantities.

In 2004-2005, the cost of staging garden parties came to €751,000 including staff, food and tents.
