Fugitives’ audacious prison van escape

TWO men were on the run last night after they escaped from a prison van during an “audacious” armed breakout which left one security guard with a gunshot wound to the leg.

Clifford Hobbs, 43, and Noel Cunningham, 41, fled after two gunmen pounced on a Securicor van carrying 10 remand prisoners as it pulled up at a London courts complex at 9am.

The men, described by detectives leading the hunt as “extremely dangerous”, were due in court charged with conspiracy to steal £1.25m (1.76m) from a Securicor vehicle in Effra Road, Brixton, south London.
