Ministers set to approve €4m aid for flood victims

UP to €4 million in humanitarian aid is expected to be allocated by the Cabinet today for victims of the damage from last week’s floods — regarded as some of the worst in 40 years.

The estimated 300 to 400 homeowners in the south and south-east affected by the floods can expect to get an average of €10,000 each in humanitarian assistance from the Government.

Businesses will not benefit from the aid package and will have to rely upon insurance cover, despite estimated flood damage to businesses running into tens of millions of euros.
