Computer hackers plan internet wrecking spree

BUSINESSES across Europe were being warned to be vigilant this weekend as computer hackers plan a wrecking spree in which they aimed to disfigure thousands of websites.

A worldwide competition will begin with hackers given the task of defacing 6,000 sites within six hours tomorrow.

Internet companies said bigger firms, including banks and financial institutions, should have software in place to repel the attack.
