Alcohol deaths in India

TWENTY people died after drinking contaminated alcohol sold by a shopkeeper in southern India, police said yesterday.

The death toll is likely to go up as over 30 people, most of them poor villagers, have been in hospital since Monday night near Bangalore, the capital of Karnataka state, said police inspector Ramesh Kumar.
