Search on for missing British troops

EVERY effort is being made to find two British servicemen who have been missing since their vehicle came under attack from the Iraqis, British Defence Secretary Geoff Hoon said yesterday.

The soldiers may yet be discovered “holed up in the desert”, the Ministry of Defence was hoping, 24 hours after the two failed to return to their vehicles after their convoy came under fire in southern Iraq.

Mr Hoon said: “You will have seen the report this morning that two British soldiers are missing. Every effort is being made to find them.”
