IBEC warns of inflation threat

BUSINESS leaders called the Government to task over inflation yesterday, accusing it of being responsible for 1.8% of the total annual figure of 5%.

Maurice Pratt, president of employer body IBEC, said yesterday that “inflation is the single biggest threat to the Irish economy.”

Recent statistics claim the Government is responsible for 1.8% of the current inflation rate of 4.9%, leaving us with a rate that is more than double the European average.
