Gay marriages ‘gravely immoral’ states Vatican

The Pope yesterday launched a global onslaught on the growing pressure for gay marriages to be recognised.

The Vatican released a statement branding homosexuality immoral, the family sacred and calling for same-sex unions to be opposed for the good of society.

A number of countries have passed legislation recognising same-sex unions, including the Netherlands and Belgium.
