Immigrants held in Greece

Coastguard officers detained 83 illegal immigrants on a tiny Greek island off the Turkish coast, Greek authorities said yesterday.

Their nationalities were not immediately known.

The immigrants - 64 men, 17 women and two children - said a boat had ferried them to the island of Agathonisi, where they were found early today.
