BP chairman calls for united Europe

EUROPEANS and Americans have to learn that a united Europe is the best option for both of them in the future, Peter Sutherland, chairman of BP and founder of the World Trade Organisation, warned yesterday.

The former European Commissioner was also adamant that the constitution for Europe has to be passed by every member state and he questioned the future in the EU of any one country that rejected it.

Mr Sutherland was speaking to a group of business and government people in Brussels on America and multi-lateralism.
