French reshuffle begins

MINISTERS in France’s reshuffled Cabinet started their new jobs yesterday as the nation waited for President Jacques Chirac to explain how the shake-up will remedy problems of a deeply unpopular government.

The shuffle was criticised by the left-wing opposition as most of the prestigious posts merely redistributed among the old team.
