Cameron Diaz, Lucy Liu and Drew Barrymore jetted into London as part of their whistle-stop promotional tour.

They spent just an hour at the event missing the film's screening and a lavish party thrown in their honour before hopping on another plane, this time to Madrid for the Spanish premiere.

But the glamorous trio still made time for a half-hour walkabout to greet the 4,000 screaming fans who had packed Leicester Square for the premiere of Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle.

"This is mind-blowing," said Barrymore, clearly stunned by the size of the crowd. "It's amazing there are so many people here."

Diaz agreed: "This is my first London Premiere and I just love it."

The girls' hectic schedule has already taken in premieres in Los

Angeles, New York, Mexico, Sydney and Paris. Diaz, 30, and Barrymore, 28, chose outfits by British designers in honour of the London occasion. Diaz wore a black and gold strapless dress by Vivienne Westwood, along with her favourite trilby, while Barrymore wore a black satin trouser suit by Alexander McQueen. Liu, 34, looked dazzling in a floor-length blue chiffon gown by Ungaro.

The traditional red carpet was replaced by a pink one for last night's premiere. Palm trees were planted outside the cinema, while Radio 1's Dreem Teem entertained the crowd with a live set.

The eagerly-awaited sequel went straight to the top of the US box office last week, taking $38 million (32.9m) in its opening weekend.

But the figure fell short of industry expectations and failed to match the first film, which took $40 million (34.6m) in its first weekend and went on to gross $125 million (108m).

Diaz, Barrymore and Liu are reunited as the high-kicking secret agents and are joined on screen by Demi Moore, who plays a "fallen" Angel. They set off hot on the trail of two missing silver bands which reveal the identities of every person on the US witness protection programme.

But Diaz currently dating Justin Timberlake reckons the plot doesn't really matter. She joked: "Who cares about the story? Don't people just want to see us in bikinis, jumping off high buildings?"
