THOUSANDS of manufacturing jobs are at risk over the next six months as the economic slowdown continues to bite deeper.

The Central Bank is to revise its economic forecast downwards, as the strength of the euro against the dollar and sterling continues to cause serious competitive difficulties for Irish companies.

Small Firms Association director Pat Delaney said the situation in the manufacturing sector is a lot more difficult than many people realise.
